US nuclear plant Three Mile Island, the location of the worst nuclear accident in American historical past, is to restart operations in a deal to promote energy to Microsoft, Constellation Power mentioned Friday.
The agency introduced the 20-year deal would contain the restart of the Unit 1 reactor, “which operated at industry-leading levels of safety and reliability for decades before being shut down for economic reasons exactly five years ago today.”
The Unit 1 reactor was not concerned within the 1979 partial nuclear meltdown on the website in Pennsylvania.
US media reported that Microsoft will harness the power to gas its AI capabilities, a quickly rising sector that requires giant quantities of power.
Constellation Power mentioned the reactor would return on-line in 2028.
