With the rise of Tesla and the EV market general, one might assume that each EV startup is simply chasing cash. And possibly that’s principally proper. Nevertheless, some corporations are extra serious about being “green” leaders — seeming to have a real give attention to defending our local weather, air, and water — whereas others simply make {that a} sidenote of their story, and of their automobiles. I just lately wrote about NIO getting a boosted ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) rating from MSCIa number one worldwide index supplier. Now we even have information of NIO successful a inexperienced design award.

The World Inexperienced Design Group has awarded the NIO ET7 and NIO ET5 Touring with a particular honor, “2024 Green Design International Award,” for the automobiles’ progressive and significantly sustainable inside. The award was offered on the WGDO Annual Convention in Brussels.

Listed below are some more details on what made the automobiles’ interiors particular:

  • “In step with its sustainable interior-design philosophy, NIO makes use of ‘Clean+’ supplies for the headliner, instrument and door panels within the NIO ET5 Touring, that are comprised of one hundred pc recycled PET bottles.
  • “Almost 95 percent of the aluminum used in the electric drive system is recycled.”
  • “In the NIO ET7, NIO is the first automotive manufacturer to use particularly environmentally friendly materials as standard. Fourteen components of the premium electric saloon are made from sustainable rattan, which is a natural and sustainable alternative to plastic.”
  • “Moreover, elements made from biodegradable materials are integrated into the interior design of both models (NIO ET5 Touring and NIO ET7).”

In fact, all of that’s on high of making an attempt to design tremendous aerodynamic and environment friendly automobiles.
