Constructing on the success of the US DOE SuperTruck 2’s effectivity enhancements, the SuperTruck 3 initiative seeks to cut back medium/heavy truck greenhouse gasoline (GHG) emissions by 75% (on a lifecycle foundation) and cut back the overall value of truck possession. The primary SuperTruck initiative was launched in 2009 with 4 trade members efficiently demonstrating new environment friendly applied sciences for Class 8 vans, a lot of which have been commercialized. SuperTruck 2 had 5 trade members succeed with growing Class 8 truck freight effectivity and engine brake thermal effectivity. The members in SuperTruck 3 are concentrating on electrical and gasoline cell purposes for medium- and heavy-duty (MD/HD) vans.
